HTC OneX Smartphone {Giveaway!}

I have been living in the dark ages. It may not seem like a big deal to you, but trust me when I say that blogging without a smartphone is not easy! So when AT&T wrote to us asking if we would be willing to try out their brand new HTC OneX smartphone to see how it could help simplify doing projects and blogging, I didn't even give Monica a chance to say yes. I jumped all over it so fast, she didn't know what happened (Sorry Mo!) I've been moaning and complaining that blogging without a smartphone is difficult because you can't connect with your readers on Facebook, Twitter or through emails unless you're physically at the computer, which for me doesn't happen often. I mean, who wants to sit at a computer all day instead of playing and interacting with their kids?! Not me. Anyway, let's just say that when I received this package in the mail, I literally jumped up and down, clapping.

Not only did they send this awesome phone, they included a gift card to use for a project to demonstrate how much this phone can help you get things done. Ummmm, yes, count me in, please. I can't wait to show you what project I did tomorrow and how this phone helped me along the way! AT&T's mottos is "It's what you do with what we do", and I can't even tell you how much I've been doing with what they do. However, I'll be honest, I don't know much about smartphones or technology in general, so I'd never heard of the HTC OneX, but I figured that I would take anything over my old-school cell.

This phone far exceeded my expectations! It is so sleek, has a huge screen (4.7 inches) and is easy to use. The only problem I've had so far, is that when I'm texting, the phone autocorrects in Spanish, which is pretty darn funny. Just ask Monica. By far, my favorite feature of the phone is the camera- it's 8MP (same as the iphone) so the pictures are clear, even in low light (which happens all the time when you do all your projects at night). Here's the proof:

Of course, I've put the camera to good use documenting projects and showcasing amazing stuff we found at Clover Market.

I can't even tell you how valuable the camera is to me, though, because of the amazing pictures I can take of my kids at a moment's notice. I mean, seriously, I would-and probably will!- hang these on my walls.

The camera is just one feature of the many things I love about this phone. It takes HD video, my kids love watching Veggie Tales on youtube on the big screen, and the Beats audio is incredible. I'm telling you, this phone is no joke. And want to know something cool?

AT&T gave us an extra HTC One X smartphone to give away to one of you!

Yay! That's right. All you need to do to enter is leave us a comment telling us how technology helps you get stuff done. For extra entries, like us on facebook and twitter. :)

This giveaway will be open until Sunday, September 30th, so make sure you tell all your friends! The winner will be announced Monday, October 1st. And don't forget to come on back tomorrow for a tutorial on one of my most favorite projects I've done to date!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And don't forget that we're in the running to be the New Face of Proctor & Gamble Home! Please head over and vote for Monica. You can vote once a day, now through October 3rd. We SO APPRECIATE you taking the time to vote each day!

For everything from keeping my schedule updated in it, setting reminders for birthdays, taking pictures to share with friends, buying movie tickets, doing Bible devotions, and simply keeping up with family and friends, it is amazing how much more convenient life is!! And I agree, blogging is definitely easier to do with it too on the go!

  16. I'm still slow at learning everything, but I can say the camera is wonderful.. The notes and reminders have helped me tremendously! I never thought I'd be texting... My husband even ask me to map something for him the other day, boy was I surprised. He still has a dinosaur phone..

  17. i don't have a smart phone but the biggest reason i wish i did was to keep our family calendar on the phone so i'd have it all the time! with 5 kids i'm checking the calendar all the time and if i'm not home, it's crazy!

  18. Without technology, I'd probably be lost...without FB and Picasa...I don't even want to imagine it. I have my phone with me all the time - therefore, it's always in my hand when I'm doing projects (it has hot glue on it to prove it)...so it's super easy to just snap pics half-way through a project, and then auto-upload it to Picasa :) FAN-TAS-TIC!

    ReplyDelete
  19. My daughter and I snap pics of our projects we are working on and send off to each other for feedback--I use when shopping to catalog my wishlist and ideas to "copy"--and my favorite of all Grandchildren!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. i love having instant feedback via text. "Is this dress flattering??" Send it out...and instant feedback!! I also love being able to take pictures!!! This would be SO great for my mom...who still uses one of the OLD SCHOOL phones and doesn't know how to text! :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Technology gets me out of my mommy world and lets me know what's happening outside. With 4 kids I need to have a calendar on hand at all times! I also love that I can look up project ideas in no time and getting fast, cheep and creative ideas in seconds!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I also love being able to take pictures of my boys at a moments notice. Our regular camera is pretty out of date, so being able to use one that takes great pictures is awesome :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Tech on the go....It never fails if I don't have access to emails then I receive an order via email and need to buy more supplies to complete the order. With tech on the go I can receive the order, pick up supplies while I am out and save gas and time. Fingers crossed!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Tech helps me blog where ever again so I can pin inspiration, find information and do all sorts of cool stuff. Hope I win!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree with Laura B. - I like being able to get quick opinions and answers on things via texts with my friends who might be across the country!

  31. I like being able to carry pictures of items I lust over for my house, along with what I already have at my house. That way when I am out and run across something I can double check that it will work with what I have or what I want. So better than carrying a huge notebook with me!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Technology is my lifeline -- to my hubby, to my son's school, to work (I work in CO, my company is in CA), to my out-of-state family, to my bank... you name it! Gotta love the convenience of technology -- and smart phones to boot!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Facebook, Instagram, etc! Totally worth it!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Like you I think I am that last person on the planet that just has a regular cell phone I refused to text until the first of this year. I see how a smart phone could change my life from google calender. to instagram, form Pandora to apps. I think it is time I step in this century and let the technology help me get things done.

    ReplyDelete
  35. You are not in the dark ages- I only just got texting in January!! I don't have a smartphone either. How technology does help me is that I can use my notepad in my cell phone (non smart phone) and type notes to myself on products I find at thrift stores so I can go home and see if I should purchase them to sell on ebay- see, a smartphone would REALLY help me!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. technology can simplify life in so many ways, if we are in control of it :) I *can* be so much more efficient with my time using technology if I am disciplined!

  55. I love a smartphone for its camera quality, googling, app store, doing homework (yes, my college has an app) and the GPS... Then I hate it when it isnt so SMART and the battery dies all the time and auto corrects my text to read somerhing other than what I intended to say and my tasks dont run so smoothly. However the good far out weighs my cons....

  81. Hi Jess and Monica,
    Well I'm still in Jess' land of yesteryear with a plain old cell phone. I find myself stuck to the computer to get everything I need accomplished, and that is typically 12-14 hours a day. OH BOY...the thought of removing that shackle with the help of an AT&T HTC OneX Smartphone, spending more time with my family and still getting work done, is a very appealing thought. Thanks for offering this to your readers, and keep up the great work. You guys rock!

  85. What a great giveaway, Jess! So I'm the absolute worst at staying in touch--I'm kinda' the anti-girl in some ways because I never have time to use a phone for actually calling anyone anymore. Sad, huh? But I love these amazing apps that let me send easy breezy FB messages to my girlfriends, check work email (while I'm out hiking on my lunch break), and tweet something sassy to my hubby all from my phone!! But would love to have a phone with a decent screen for photos and video. How cool! xoxojess

    ReplyDelete
  86. I actually use my phone now more than my computer for keeping up on emails and social networking. I've even got my blogs, video accounts and documents auto-uploading to share with everyone. With a better camera and faster device, I could get even more done!

  95. **************Pick me for the HTC One X***************************

    ~~~10 years ago~~~
    Ring, Ring, Ring........this was the sound of my analog alarm clock waking me up in the morning
    ~~~Present day~~~
    Now I wake up to the all too famous "Marimba" tune that's on the phone that changed it all....the iPhone.

    Technology in general has advanced so rapidly and helped me in too many ways to count. Here's a few of them:

    1. Always connected - now with 4G LTE on most modern smart phones, the internet has amazing speeds and is always at your finger tips to check me email, find the latest news, what place to eat, or what my friends and family are up to on their social networks. I'm constantly checking google ready for the latest tech news from The Verge, Engagdet, etc, the latest scores from ESPN, or my local news for traffic jams. I'm a huge fan of yelp and always use it to find the best place to eat at an affordable price. It has led me to some wonderful hole in the whole places. And I'll tell the restaurant owner, I found you on Yelp!

    2. Never get lost - built in GPS has helped me to always find my points of interest with little trouble. Remember the days of searching map quest and printing the directions...omg! Or going through map book to find the streets nearest the area you wanted to find. I used Navigon a lot on my iPhone as my primary navigator until I found how bad the new Apple maps were. It led me to a wonderful app called Waze. Anyone readying my post should definitely give it a try. The benefit of this app is that it incorporates social features like real time user feedback of traffic jams, accidents, etc. Be aware of running GPS apps on your phone. You will need to bring a spare battery or car charger because it will definitely drain your battery quickly.

    3. Keeping me occupied - in modern day like today, it has never been more fun to wait in line at a doctor's appointment, the airport, or even those once a year license renewal at the DMV. Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Temple Run are some of the awesome games I played that have kept me occupied for hours. It has definitely made those trips on the airplane much shorter for me. I sometimes wish my flight was delayed so I could get those 3 gold stars in Angry Birds.

    Well, I've never had an HTC device before and since I've read so many great things about the HTC One X being its flagship phone, I hope I have the opportunity to give them a try.

    Thank you.

    Wayne

  97. In our household, we don't yet have "fancy future phones" , as my husband calls them. However, I would love to have one to simplify projects...especially in the kitchen when I want to try a new recipe. It would be really nice not to have to quickly write it using shorthand on the backs of envelopes sitting around.

  98. I like being able to search up information wherever I go, I also like using GPS function when I get lost! :D

  99. I recently transferred law schools and my wife had to stay behind in our old city to finish out a commitment to her job. Until she is able to move, we use our phones to stay in touch. With all of the ways to connect now, such as picture messaging and video chats, our smart phones are really useful and essential tools.

  101. Technology Helps me view the public transit operating schedule in real time, while I listen to music as I browse my schools website to do my online assignments for my nursing degree. At school, technology lets me use my digital camera to take pictures through a microscope in my pathology lab as I text peers in my class about the surprise concert of the band I was previously to that I found out about on twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Technology helps me keep in touch with my family, friends, my life. I check in with social networking, take pics and videos of my kids . Since I never have a separate camera, I always have my phone. I also read my text books from school and post in discussions as well as check out library books. There is nothing that you are unable to do with a phone, it has become such an integral part of life.

  110. I have only had 2 cell phones in the last 12 years...not too bad except that I cannot keep up with the teens in my life. New technology would help me stay connected and also give me the opportunity to see what's going on in the EC2 world while I wait for practices to end and between car pooling and the school bell to ring(: Thanks for the chance ladies!!!

    ReplyDelete
  111. It helps me multitask - I can be at the park and answering work emails at the same time giving me time with my son and also the ability to check in at work. It helps me schedule things & not be forgetful. I'd be lost without technology!

  119. Please! If I didn't have my computer, I'd actually have to use a cookbook! AND I'd have to figure out if it tasted good by actually making it instead of reading 60 reviews first! AND I'd have to figure out my own adjustments to it to make it taste better because, once again, I wasn't able to read all the reviews!!

  125. I can't use my phone for work. It has a craked screen. I do use my IPad when I create or for reference when I do my oil painting.

  126. I use technology to keep up with all of my relatives around the world. I also use my iPod to read books, use it as a GPS, and use Facebook for iPhone to find my old friends and keep in touch with them. The HTC One X is a really gorgeous phone, and I can't really afford a smartphone of my own, so I hope I will at least be considered for this amazing smartphone! I've always wanted an HTC phone - it's actually my preference over iPhones and Samsung phones. :3
